Hire Ground Podcast Episode 25: When Should You Launch a Search? A Hiring Market Check-In with Josh Czupryk

Episode 25 of Hire Ground Podcast

Former co-host Josh Czupryk returns to Hire Ground to take the pulse of the education hiring market. He compared October job postings from 2024, 2025, and 2026, then asked chief people officers what was driving the numbers.

The findings: open principal roles are down, a sign of greater leadership stability, though part of that drop reflects networks moving to pooled listings. Talent and development staff are staying in their roles longer. Operations and finance vacancies are climbing as private-sector pay pulls that talent away. And early-career roles now make up 38% of charter postings, up from 32%, as organizations rebuild their bench.

Christina and Josh also dig into why Gen Z isn’t entering mission-driven pipelines the way earlier generations did, where AI helps in hiring (and where it doesn’t), and how to protect student and staff data. Then they tackle the question every hiring manager asks: when should you launch a search? Josh shares when job seekers are actually looking, and Christina explains why Edgility Search now coaches fall clients to plan for finalists in February.
